Meditation

I truly believe anyone can meditation

The key is you may need to find the way that works best for you. When I began meditating, it was with a 30 day challenge going from 2 minutes a day to 30 minutes a day. The first few 2 minute meditations seems like torture to me. It was hard for me to turn off my racing mind and focus on my breathing or even focus on the meditation teacher. When I switched to 3 minutes each day, it was even worse. I didn't believe that I would be able to concentrate at all for 30 minutes. At the end of the first week, I almost gave up. I almost just said screw it, I can't do it, this is not for me. Thankfully, I persisted. The start of the second week I had to travel on an airplane for work.

I did not feel comfortable AT ALL attempting to meditate in the airport, so I thought I would try it on the airplane.

This time it was a 5 minute meditation and I was sitting right over the engine and there was buzzing and movement all around me. I had committed to trying to do this to help me out, so I put on my ear phones, turned on my meditation and closed my eyes. I began to slow my breath and become away of the sounds around me (per the meditation). I couldn't hear my breath, but could feel it in my body. I could feel the cool air coming into my nostrils, down through my throat and into my lungs. I could also feel the warm air in my lungs, coming up my throat and thought my nostrils. I was completely deep into my meditation for the FULL FIVE MINUTES! I felt the benefits from meditaiton. I felt very proud of myself for being able to actually do it, wihtou tmy pesky nervous, worrisome, going a mile a minute mind getting in the way.

What I needed to feel comfortable was not complete silence, but noise and movement to kick start the process.

The next day, I was easily able to complete the 5 minute meditation in my hotel room without the movement this time. The day after that, it was an 8 minute meditation and it seemed like a breeze. The rest of the challenge seemed almost easy for me to do. All because I found an environment to be able to do it as well as to be able to feel the benefits of the meditation for myself, not just what someone else was telling me I should feel.

Sitting in the "traditional meditation posture" is not something I feel comfortable doing for more than 5 minutes. My back starts to ache and it takes me out of the meditation. In my practice, I meditation for more than that 5 mimutes on a consistent basis but by laying on my back or moving.
